Hi Friends! So far this year I've been insanely lucky and have been working on some amazing productions and projects, but there's always a part of me that wants to be better. I'm always determined to be better than last time, and try to take every opportunity to sharpen my skills, so naturally I look to ESPA.
ESPA (The Primary Stages' Einhorn School of Performing Arts) has been an educational, artistic home to me for almost 5 years now and there's a reason I come back time after time. I always have exceptional experiences and are often training with some of the best in the business. This time around will be no different. John Gould Rubin has a stellar list of accomplishments including directing Riding the Midnight Express Off-Broadway and at London's Soho Theater; and is the former Co-Artistic Director and Executive Director of LAByrinth Theater Company.
I'm absolutely thrilled to be working with him and a wonderful group of artists ready to take on the task of devising something amazing. The class is described below:
"This new lab will break down the traditional barriers between actor/director/writer and challenge you to become a better collaborator in the room. Working in pairs, small groups, and as a full company over seven weeks, you’ll be given a sequence of challenging, time-sensitive, and out of the box assignments, honing skills of cooperation, imagination, and storytelling. After devising several pieces over the course of the summer, the class will culminate in a celebratory public presentation of your work."
Doesn't that sound incredible?!?! Again, I'm so excited to be doing this, and once again working on things that I can only hope will make me a better artist, person, and collaborator.
Here's to always being a student, and working towards being the best "you" possible! :)
